Maureen Denise McCormick, the only daughter from Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father worked as a teacher while her mother was a stay-at-home mom. Michael Dennis Kevin is her older brother. She has three siblings. McCormick started singing and performing in the early years of her life. The fairytale story of her rise to fame began when she was crowned her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of 6. This led to an inquiry from an agent for talent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency and asked her whether she wanted to work in show business. McCormick had her first significant job when she was cast in the 1964 television commercial of Mattels newest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. She did another commercial in 1964, for the Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon was cast as the main character in Wind It Up and It is Broken, a show at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children to play the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The sitcom starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed, newlyweds who had an unmarried family. The show lasted five seasons. In her autobiography Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice which was published in 2008 McCormick admitted that in the fifth season, she was close to losing her virginity to her onscreen co-star and brother Barry Williams. At the time, she was 16 and he was 19. The woman said it might have been feasible, but we didn't have the proper time to do it.
